This week has been crazy like usual. But what's the fun in it if it's not crazy around here? Let me first start off that, I forgot to send pics last week. So you'll be getting extra pics this week. Ok so first off, Valentine's rolls around and I get my bike back from Brother Barnett! But what's this? Oh there's a nice flat tire on the front...how lovely I didn't leave it like that now did I? Hhmm I think it's got missionaries written all over it. And btw our phone was barely working so we had to order a new one from the office so the ZL's had to drop it off to us. So like Wednesday they came to drop the phone off. I asked the cool ZL if they had any bike patches so they actually went to a bike store and picked one up for me which was pretty cool. So the next couple nights I had to pull my bike apart and fix the flat, I had to patch two holes in it. But now it's back together and it works perfectly so that's good. I got your package I think Wednesday as well. That's a lot of food! I don't have to go grocery shopping any time soon now. And idk what you expect me to do now I can't eat all of that. My companion is scrawny and doesn't eat much. It was helpful when I had Elder Heyward but not anymore. I'm pretty much eating that cake we got last week, by myself. But anyway I really liked the Lego set in the package I got all excited about it. And I really like the tie clip that's awesome. And the eagle key chain thing I put on my keys. So we're stocked up.
Oh yes, so we were at the Joseph Smith memorial building on Tuesday and my District Leader told me this amazing thing. So our mission is caffeine free mission, which means I can't drink my Mtn Dew! But apparently this is what my District Leader told me because he loves it too, that in the Joseph smith memorial building on the bottom floor they have a cafeteria with vending machines and they have caffeine free Mtn Dew! It's amazing no one has ever heard of it! Apparently this is one of the only places they have these, they are rare and amazing. So I got one while we were there lol. Oh yes the Missionary Jenga is pretty cool, we got bored and made different structures with it. That's what happens when you have two son's of mechanical engineers. And then idk if I told you guys this before, but there is this family the Anderson's that we know pretty well because brother Anderson was in the stake calling. But they have a son that went to Dad's mission as well at the same time he did and Sister Berezey. What's with me and finding all these people. They wanted me to send a pic of him to dad so he can see if he remembers.
Oh yes and for the fun story time. So speaking of the Anderson's we were actually at their house. They live right behind the stake center so we can see the parking lot. We stopped in for some root beers and then we got talking about this red car that has been sitting in the parking lot for 3 days in front of the dumpster... hmmm. They told us they have had to report a couple stolen cars before. And then we noticed there were California plates.. uh oh. So Sister Anderson called dispatch and told them about the car and all the details. The dumb lady was like, " oh well the parking lot is technically public parking so it can stay there as long as it wants." Sister Anderson was like, "....😑 really it's stolen." So the dispatch lady was like ok well can you get me the plate number and call us back. Ok fine. Sooo me and my companion scurry over there and take pics of the plate. And then I started looking in the windows to see what was inside, my companion then joined me looking in the windows. There was some weird stuff left in it. And then my companion sees that the key is still in the ignition. Then I was like huh, wonder if it's open. (And this is the difference between a California kid and a Arkansas kid) my companion had no intention of opening it. So I go by the driver door, I was all ghetto and looked around to see if anyone was near by. The coast was clear. So I opened the car and the alarm started going off 😂 I pulled the key out and shut the door and then the alarm shut back off haha. My companion was like dude now our fingerprints are going to be all over the car. I was like, "ppphh we're missionaries they love us here." We looked at the key and it had a tag on it. My companion noticed it was a valet key. So we were like yep it is for sure stolen. So we scurried back to the Anderson's and gave them the plate number and then they called dispatch back and told them the details and she said," our boys-...sorry our Elders went over and looked at it and found a key." They looked it up in the system and sure enough it was stolen. So we waited at the building for 20 minutes until a squad car pulled up. The cop came out and we handed him the key and he said, "man you guys are preaching the gospel and doing our job, we appreciate all the work you guys do." Then he asked if we saw anything suspicious while around and we're like nope. Then we walked to our bikes to hop on and go to dinner. The cop was searching it when we were leaving and the alarm kept going off. He had this look like well this is awkward. We came back later that night back to the building and the car was gone. Sooo that's the infamous story of the week.
Oh and we decided to get pics with the car or our "kill" for the day haha. So yeesss. And then this past Friday to Saturday we had exchanges for the last time this transfer and since transfers is this coming Tuesday the district wanted to do something special. So my district and parts of another got together and came to the church building near my district leaders apartment to use the kitchen to do a district breakfast. There ended up being a lot of food it was awesome but it was really good. There was some stuff we had as part of the breakfast that I told my district leader like, aah man that's going to give me horrid gas man. Sure enough it did. Poor companion. I did a time lapse of the crew making breakfast in the church kitchen and then screen shots of it so pretty much some pics of it. I'll send them. So that was Saturday morning. We finally come back to our area around 4 and went to work again. That whole day everyone's anxious about transfer news. But we don't get to find out till night time. So when we turned in for the day our turd of a district leader kept messing with us. The first time he called he was messing with us saying that we are getting white washed and the ZLs are taking it because it's the best area in the zone.... we were ticked. And then he told us he was joking. He played it off to make it seem like he knew the news. So he hung up on us. We called him back like ok what's really going on. He messed with us some more and then told us he was also messing with the other elders in our district saying that they are getting transferred. So then he told us ya idk anything we haven't gotten any news. So then he hung up. We were irritated by this point. 5 minutes later he calls us again and we are like finally the news.... we pick up and my companion is like ok what's the deal here, and the DL was like oh idk I was just lonely and I wanted someone to talk to...so we literally had a casual conversation with him over the freaking phone which doesn't really happen. It was getting close to bedtime and then we got a mass text out to everyone by the AP's saying that president took a bit longer so they would tell us the following morning. Ugh! I didn't sleep that well last night. I just didn't want them to take my companion away cuz we are doing great in this area. We are expecting 4 baptism this transfer. We got one coming up this coming Friday. Anyway so the next morning I hopped in the shower and I'm in there for like 5 minutes and my companion starts thumping on the door. I couldn't hear what he wanted or something I thought he needed to take a dump real bad. So I hopped out grabbed a towel and cracked the door open and he's on the phone with the district leader. He finally got the news...............
WE ARE BOTH STAYING, everyone figured we would but still we were anxious because president can throw a curve ball. But apparently he was proud of the results we were both having so he kept us here. So finally I was at ease. Oh ya I forgot so last week we were planning on having 3 baptisms this transfer but then it went to 4 because we got a referral from temple square sisters of this guy named Enrique who's from Columbia. Him and his wife have been here for a year or two for college. And they were at Temple Square and talked to sisters and the sisters ask people for information to send it to us. So we got his info called him and talked to him and he wanted to see us right away. We saw him the following day, got to know him, before even teaching him he's like ,"so when can I get baptized" and we were like woah. Had to tell him we had to teach him first. After the first lesson we invited him to be baptized and he said yes and asked how soon we can do it. Told him we got to teach him all lessons and he's gotta come to church 3 times. And if we do that the soonest we can do it is March 11th. We invited him to church and when we were there Sunday BOOM he was there we were shocked because that doesn't usually happen the first time. So ya we're expecting 4 baptisms, so ones on February 24th, the next is March 11th, then the next is March 18th, and the 4th one we did have him on date but he hasn't come to church yet because they're scared but my companion thinks we can get him there the end of this transfer. Aaaaannnnnddddd now we just got the news that my companion will be the new District Leader because our previous is getting transferred. I hope we keep the same district and not have them switch it around because there are some real dips in the other districts.
