I think you guys are up in Utah this week now? Maybe? I forgot. But still it's weird that you guys are an hour away from where I'm serving I mean c'mon guys. This has been a packed week, my companion and I have been working harder and increasing our numbers gradually. Jasmine was baptized on Saturday and confirmed the 20th, her cousin baptized her and I had the privilege to confirm her a member of the church on Sunday in her ward. It's my first baptism of my mission and I only had to wait till my second transfer. So I told my companion he's spoiled for having one his first transfer. Her step father is showing a lot of interest so I hope he will be our golden investigator for the next upcoming transfer now that this one is coming to a close. This is our last week.
Wow did this transfer fly by. Where did it go? I thought I was just called to be a trainer a couple weeks ago? But anyway it's freaking cold up here and it is not ok. Below 30? COLD! It snowed this week so that was fun to see for the first time while out on my mission. My companion and I have had a blast this transfer maybe that's why it went by so fast. 3 missionaries in my zone are going home. And sometimes it's tough to see missionaries go home because we know they get to go back home to their families and we're still working here even though we have only been out an X amount of months. If you guys are up here good luck with the cold and join the party right? Apparently we have been spoiled most of the month with warm weather and I tease members saying that me and my companion brought the weather here with us from California and Alabama. They get a kick out of that.
So funny story you'll get a laugh out of this....so last Monday my companion and I were heading to an appointment with Jasmine. A little background story that my companion didn't want to buy a bike so he got a free bike that was used by previous missionaries from the mission office in a place nicknamed "The Dungeon" where hundreds of bikes are stored. And the bike my companion got has brakes that don't really work. Anyway back to Monday.. so we were headed up a street 2300 E on the sidewalk going against traffic so they can see us and our lights. My companion was in front of me. And we were coming up on a part of the side walk where there's an exit of a parking lot near a restaurant. There was a lady in a silver Chrysler mini van. Waiting to pull out of the exit, but wasn't pulled out on the sidewalk yet with room for us to pass. We thought she saw us coming so we kept rolling. Well crazy lady had her head up her rear not paying attention to everything, and pulled out in front of us. My companion had 3 feet of reaction time and bad brakes and smacked into the side of her car. He recovered himself, as she had a shocked look. He leaned over and said "I'm sorry". She didn't even have the common sense to roll down the window to see if my companion was ok! And then she just finished pulling out and left! My companion wasn't hurt but just shaken up a little.
We were running late to the appointment so we kept going to Jasmine's house with no problems. Tuesday afternoon rolls around and we got a call from the AP's.....uuummmm ok that's not always a good sign. They asked if we were involved in a bike accident on Monday because they got a report. We weren't sure if it was us because this stuff happens quite often. So then the AP's hung up. A couple minutes later we get a call from President Hillier!!? OH NO this is not usual. He talked to my companion about the accident that was reported by this lady... apparently crazy bat lady called the mission office reporting an accident that a missionary hit her "Mercedes" car!? Unfortunately she's not a member otherwise this wouldn't be happening. She also said she pulled over and waited for us and that we just left....we had to explain to President everything that happened and I was the witness. President then wanted to talk to me and I was freaking out because I thought my buns were toast. He asked me "Elder Mushet what could you have done in this situation to prevent this?" I responded "umm stay there a little longer and call the office?" And he was like "no before that" and I was like "umm...fix the brakes?" And he laughed and said "yes go fix the brakes as soon as you can, don't worry about anything this happens all the time, keep working hard and we'll see you later we love you guys" ........crazy bat lady reported us?! We thought it was over but NOPE.
Wednesday afternoon we were at Brother Egan's house (super mansion with indoor basketball court and play room basement that we have Zone activities at because their family is amazing and he's our ward mission leader in one of the 23 wards we have) and we get a call from someone in church HQ in the HR department.....you got to be kidding me...he called and had to ask for our report so he could make records for the church like a lawyer almost... because crazy bat lady apparently threatened to sue the church...so he had to get our report and witnesses about this. We even had to take pictures of where it happened. Just our luck right? While we are on the phone Brother Egan knows the whole story by now and he's laughing at this situation and everything going on. I'm shaking my head at this point. But after that we haven't heard anything sense so who knows what happened. The church might have to pay money to shut her up who knows. That's a great story to tell when I get home. Oye..some people's kids..
I hope you guys are beating the furry goat soundly and he likes it. Yucky dog in a fur coat. Take off his pjs and get them washed, make sure you dry clean them so it doesn't stretch them out, we finally figured out we can't just throw them in the wash after 3 failed attempts with the cats. And with Abby..well it's to late for her just beat her for me. She's my kitty 😁for Christmas Santa will be bringing a bag of cats for you guys. Better not come home in 21 months to see you added to all y'alls nasty animal petting zoo lol. We got a furry brown goat 🐐, two rare lazy what used to be black panthers, and a rare fuzzy grey tiger who preys on spiders well probably used to but now she just stares at it and is like "meh" and goes to sleep. I hope you guys will have a great time up here in "what is this ootah anyway?" With Merle and Squirrel, if you're just staying at their place have fun cramming in their apartment. Don't worry about me we will be just fine with the members fighting over who gets to feed the missionaries on Thanksgiving. We better watch how much we eat this time. Meowpachopskies
