The speaker on Sunday was one of the First Quorum of the Seventy, Jaun A. Uceda. It was a very good talk and we had really good seats because my district joined the MTC choir which was really fun. It's like drinking from a fire hose here with all of the info and everything but still so spiritual. I'm probably gonna go to the temple again today around 7am for endowment sessions. The food makes us gassy here. I've made a new family with my zone too in just a matter of a week and a half. I have pics but for some reason I can't get them to send.
I'm doing splits right now with an Elder Hollingsworth who is a great guy. He's from my room cuz our companions didn't want to get up this early. It's 6:03 and we're doing laundry to beat the huge crowd. I have made a new family I guess you can say with my district and sister districts that make up our zone. It's honestly amazing in a short amount of time with the spirit its as if you knew them (your district) for years because of the environment here. Last p-day we went to the temple and I think we are going to do it again today. We've been learning so much here its like drinking from a fire hose haha. We've also had a couple of investigators already. One is really stubborn but such a good guy, you can see it in his eyes. But our second investigator is amazing. She's just soo ready to learn about the church and she has a background of being a Baptist. She's been really into the lessons and loves everything about it. The first lesson we invited her to pray and she was all about that. Then around the second visit we invited her to be baptized and follow Christ example because we've been told not to mess around with that invitation for to long. But anyway she said yes the first time it was AWESOME! There's more to tell but it would make this a really long email.
I'll have some pics for you.
Left to right is
Elder Fisk, Elder Klima, Brother Jackson (teacher), Elder Partridge, Elder Clayton, Sister Mcneil, Elder Hollingsworth, Sister Jensen, Sister Clark, me, then Elder Taylor
I used my card in the MTC store to buy some small stuff. It would be amazing if you sent a package of goodies and chocolate, food here is like a currency lol. I tried sending pics to dad this morning but I can't seem to get it. I can't send pictures for some reason and it's really frustrating, but I guess I can still share some stuff by telling you. Today we went to the temple for the 2nd time while at the MTC to do endowment sessions. For the past week we have had TRC investigators here at the MTC its role playing, some are members but some are real investigators but the MTC won't tell us who is who. One of the most special times when teaching one of our stubborn investigators, at the end of the lesson we pray and I got a feeling that we needed to kneel and pray with this investigator. Soon as I was about to suggest we do that my companion said the same exact thing I was prompted to say. That was special! My district is still amazing and is a family to me now. The food is making everyone gassy to (haha) but the food is pretty good. The only down side is in the middle of the week, there are a ton of missionaries and the line gets super long. It's really weird going out side the MTC gates and knowing I have family across the street. But anyway, my companion is Elder Taylor, our room mates are Elder Clayton and Elder Hollingsworth. We are all going to SLCE and they are great guys. We have a trio in our district that are going to Oregon, they are Elder Partridge, Elder Klima, and Elder Fisk. Then we have 3 sisters, Sister Clark, Sister Mcneil, and Sister Jensen who are great young women. My Zone can get pretty spazzy especially our neighbor district but it's a blast. Most mornings we have free time so we go play sand volleyball and that gets pretty goofy. After Sunday passed the week went by fast. But on Tuesday we had a devotional and my district joined the MTC choir. I know me and singing? But we got front row seats to hear one of the Seventy, Juan A. Uceda. Between the talk and singing... talk about a spiritual experience! On Sunday there was another devotional, a band called the " the National Tribute Band" made up of all LDS men. It was fun but at the end the main guy told us a story of when he was on his mission, then they played a song about leaving home kissing your mom goodbye, then going through your mission and then at the end returning home, but not wanting to go home. The spirit was so freaking strong it seriously made every Sister and Elder, thousands of us start crying because they put the lyrics up on a screen and had ALL the missionaries in the MTC sing it. We could barely keep it together and finish the song. I'm even having a hard time right now typing that part. On Wednesday we got some newbies, glad to say we aren't newbs. But on Monday and Tuesday we lost our veterans here and while in our residence hall, even though they only knew us newbs for half a week some of them were getting emotional cuz they didn't want to leave. I write in my journal every day and keep you, dad, Mikaela, and Mark in my prayers. I hope everything goes well at home. I do miss you guys but surprisingly I haven't been home sick yet because of the environment here. Don't worry about me being gone because I'm here at one of the best places here on earth.
-Love you all
P days are pretty relaxing we get to hang out do laundry and work out while waiting for laundry to be done. You haven't read your email yet, but today is my p-day, just to let you guys know. the elders and sisters here are amazing and we all have the same attitude. The spirit is so strong here you would not believe it. This morning I went with my district to the temple for endowment sessions, it was amazing! My district is amazing and we are like a family already after day 3. It's amazing to see that young people like this can turn into adults the next day because of the spirit that is here. I'll keep emailing you guys and I hope you guys see these.
The food here makes me gassy and a couple other people but its still good. its really fun at night in the resident halls because everyone is screwing around, there are some elders that have so much food from their parents and inherited more food from leaving elders. so its a party and they hand out food. my companion is Elder Taylor. My Branch President is awesome he was in the Air Force, and the district is awesome! I don't have much time to write because dinner is coming. I'll email you guys next Friday!
**We did not know when his p-day would be in the MTC, so hearing from him again two days later was a surprise**
Andrew knew that I was having the worst time leaving him at the MTC. For every missionary mom, you know exactly what I'm talking about...it's bittersweet. Anyway Doug, Mikaela & Mark had taken me to lunch and I had this feeling that I should check my email. It had only been an hour since we had parted ways, but I found this...
"Hi mom, I know you are very stressed and emotional about me leaving. I have only been here for an hour and it is already awesome here. The elders are nice and the sisters. Expect more emails from me on my
P-days. I love you guys and I'll see you in 2!"
